Challenging your inner limiting beliefs can be a difficult task. First, you have to realize what limiting beliefs you have and then you have to be willing to change them. Change is scary because it’s outside of your comfort zone of what you already know to be safe and true. Taking the brave risk to step into the unknown outside your comfort zone usually only happens when you can no longer stand to continue living as you currently are. As Tony Robbins says, change happens when the pain of staying the same is greater than the pain of change. Creating positive change in your life is how you achieve your goals and live life to the fullest.
Begin by asking yourself if you’re comfortable with where you currently are. Evaluate all areas of your life and give each one a score from one to ten. Rate each of the following areas from your metal well being, physical health, environment, finances, career, hobbies, to your relationships. Decide if you’re comfortable with just remaining where you currently are in each of these areas. If you aren’t, choose one area to focus on that needs improvement and change.
Next, think about what improvements you want to make in this area. Set a specific goal that would help you increase the score of this particular area of your life. Think about how you would feel if you were to make these changes and how it would affect your life overall. Envision your future if you made these positive changes in your life. Consider what it would make possible for you, how you would think, feel, and who you would become in the process of working to improve this area of your life. Visualize your future if you were to implement these changes.
Then, visualize your future if you made no changes at all. Ask yourself if you are okay continuing going through life just as you are. Decide if this is the life that you want to be living. Honestly, life should be about constantly trying to improve and become better. Otherwise, you’ll just remain floating through life and never experience all that life has to offer because you’re stuck in the bubble of your current comfort zone. But, it’s easier to just stay where you are. However, if you have an inkling that you want more for your life then you must be willing to make a change.
Being willing to make a change and actually taking action to change are two different things. You might find yourself wishing you could change certain things in your life but you lack the motivation, time, energy, and commitment to change. Again, this goes back to your current life has to be worse than the potential gain if you change. It’s not easy. Your brain will come up with all the reasons why it’s better to stay safe in your comfort zone and try to talk you out attempting to create positive change in your life. You’ll find yourself saying that your life is perfectly fine as it is and that there is no need for change. All because it’s easier just to remain where you currently are. However, it’s time to challenge those thoughts, limiting beliefs, and stories that are holding you hostage in your comfort zone. That is the only way you’re going to live life to your full potential, achieve your goals, and ultimately be happy with the life you’re living.
You’re only given one life so you must make the most of it. If you desire to create change in your life then decide to make the decision to take action and do so. Change can happen, but only if you’re willing to do the work. Stop thinking and talking about it. Instead, take action and do something about it! Take a chance and step into the unknown. Choose to bet on yourself that there is more greatness waiting for you outside your comfort zone and that you’ll figure things out as you go. You do not have to remain stuck where you currently are. Challenge the norms of what you believe to be true. Do not let your limiting beliefs hold you back from achieving your goals in life. Decide to take action and choose to create a positive change in your life so that you can live life to your full potential.
