Step Outside Your Comfort Zone

Comfort zones are designed to keep you safe.  You know exactly what to expect and there is little to fear when you live inside your comfort zone.  But this is also why you remain stuck.  One simple reason; fear.  Fear can actually hold you back from living life to your fullest potential.

 

Fear can stop you from going after your dreams.  Fear is built up when you don’t know the exact steps to take.  Your mind starts swimming with all the worst case scenarios and it becomes easier to just remain in your comfort zone.

 

Ask yourself if fear is making the decision for you.  You may be afraid because you’re not quite sure what to expect.  This is when you must acknowledge that if you remain in your comfort zone you’re not truly living life.  You are here to learn and grow.  The only way to do that is to push yourself to step outside your comfort zone.

 

You fear stepping outside your comfort zone because of the unknown.  At least in your current comfort zone you know what to expect, even if it’s not where you’d truly like to be.  When you do think about stepping outside your comfort zone you often worry that things might actually get worse than where they are right now.  That is when your mind makes the decision to remain unhappily where you are.  This is because the fear of the unknown is much greater than continually living in your current comfort zone.

 

There is a mindset shift that happens to force you outside of your comfort zone.  When your mindset realizes that if you stay where you are, nothing is going to change and it’s certainly not going to get any better.  When you get fed up with living in your current comfort zone that is when you decide to try something new.  But, it has to get bad enough for you to take the risk of trying something you’ve never done before.

 

It can be difficult even if you do decide to try something new and step outside your comfort zone.  You may begin to take a few small steps and then hit a roadblock that makes you feel uncomfortable.  This can cause you to throw in the towel and stop for good.  You give up and make the decision that you’re not meant to step outside your comfort zone of what you already know.

 

However, this not how dreams are achieved.  Dreams are achieved by learning to step outside your comfort zone.  The truth is, no growth happens when you remain in your comfort zone.  Years can go by and you’re still in the same spot.  Nothing has changed.  It becomes quite mundane.  That is not the life to live.  Especially when you desire to live life with purpose and want to give back in the world.

 

Life begins to expand when you learn to step outside your comfort zone.  When you try something new for the first time it can be difficult and a bit scary.  As you practice you become better.  Soon what you were once afraid of becomes second nature and you’ve mastered it.  You will grow leaps and bounds when you step outside your comfort zone.

 

Remember that you are here for a reason.  There are no extra people.  You must push yourself to step outside your comfort zone to experience life, even when you’re afraid to do so.  The greatest things happen right outside your comfort zone.
