Music is a transformational outlet. Today I find myself singing along in the car or in a store when a tune comes on that I can’t resist lip syncing too. Music holds a deep personal connection for all of us.
What you decide to listen to will often depend on your mood. If you’re feeling nostalgic you may choose something from your younger years like a boy band where you know all the lyrics. Maybe you’re feeling sad and choose an instrumental piece or something melancholy. Perhaps you’re in a bad mood and put on rap or heavy metal. You may simply put on the latest pop tunes for some background music to see what’s popular right now. Country music often tells a story during the song. Don’t forget all the musicals and Disney tunes we have committed to memory. There are so many genres to choose from. Allow yourself just to feel and let go of your current mood through the power of music.
The truth is, music evokes an emotion in us that recalls memories. Our brain holds so much information, including the lines to the music from our youth.
