It can be extremely helpful to surround yourself with an external support system in order to amplify your own belief in yourself. You need a deep inner belief in yourself in order to achieve your goals. But, sometimes you just need an extra boost of support from external sources to confirm that you can do this. Here are four external sources to help you believe in yourself so that you can achieve your goals.
Begin by surrounding yourself with like minded people. This could be people who are working on achieving something similar to you or just a group of people who want to improve, be better, and are working to achieve a goal. Find a community of people who are supportive, and uplifting. This group should remind you that what you’re working towards is important, worthwhile, and most of all, encourage you to believe in yourself that you can achieve your goal. Search for different groups you could join, online or in your local area. You can also start and create your own group, either online or with a close group of friends. Remember, your group should include like minded people who have a positive mindset and encourage each other to believe in one another.
If a group sounds too intimidating, pick one person you can have as a cheerleader. Having someone to cheer you on and believe in you, even when you don’t believe in yourself can pull you out of the depths of despair and into action. This camaraderie fuels you to keep going even when times get tough. Plus, you’ll have someone to celebrate with when you achieve your goal. Have at least one cheerleader in your life who you can turn to for an extra dose of confidence, motivation, and support. This could be your best friend, spouse, parent, coworker, or someone you connected with online who is working towards a goal too. Find a cheerleader who will give you that extra support that helps you to believe in yourself.
As a bonus, find a few mentors who inspire you. These can be people you look up to who are living the life you desire. It can be someone you follow on social media or an icon that inspires you to be your best and go after your goals. Consume their resources if they have a podcast, video show, book, online course, etc. Mentors have gone before you and remind you of what’s possible. They may seem miles ahead of where you currently are, but with the right mentor, you’ll be motivated to believe in yourself that you can reach their level.
Lastly, you may want to hire a coach to address some of the reasons why you’re struggling to believe in yourself. A coach can help you identify the limiting beliefs that are holding you back from making progress towards your goals. A coach isn’t a cheerleader, but rather someone who will give you tough love when you need it the most. A coach will help you eliminate your excuses and be the accountability you need to show up for yourself and your goals. Sometimes you need an outside perspective in order to break through the limiting beliefs so that you can start believing in yourself.
In order to believe in yourself you must find a support system, even if it’s online. Surround yourself with like minded people who are going after a goal. Being in a group of people who are working to achieve a goal can seem a bit intimidating. However, it’s not a competition of who can achieve a goal the fastest, or who has the biggest goal with massive results. It’s about building relationships and seeing evidence of what’s possible that instills a belief in yourself that you can do it too. Seek out mentors and coaches that will help you believe in yourself. Find your external support system, even if it’s just one cheerleader in your life who reminds you to believe in yourself.
