Everyone has goals that they work towards. Some achieve them while others don’t. It makes you think, what’s the difference between these people?
The following five step process will help you become one of the success stories and stay motived toward reaching your goal. It all starts with simply believing.
You must believe the goal is something you can achieve. You may not have any evidence that the goal is possible, but you must believe it anyway. This belief gives you motivation to keep going, even when things get difficult. Other people may tell you it’s impossible. This is when you have to believe even harder. You have to believe in your goal more than anyone else in order to achieve it.
Not only do you have to believe in your goal but you have to believe in your ability to make it happen. Again, other people may put you down saying you’re not capable of doing something so great. However, you must have a strong belief in yourself, which will motivate you to move mountains. Believe in yourself and remember that you can do anything you set your mind to.
Achieving a goal is hard work. You can’t just sit by and expect the goal to achieve itself. Putting in effort every single day that will move you closer to your goal is essential to your success. You may not know all the steps to achieve your goal, but taking action will give you clarity on what to do next. Remaining paralyzed by fear of making a wrong move will keep you stuck in the same spot. With that mindset you will never achieve your goal. Successful people take action even when they aren’t entirely clear on the next step.
The real motivation comes into play when you hit an obstacle. This is where the line separates those that achieve their goal and those that don’t. Those that don’t achieve their goal decide to throw in the towel and give up because it has become too hard. But you on the other hand, decide not give up. You keep going anyway. Obstacles aren’t viewed as failures. Rather, you see them as lessons to learn in order to be better for next time. You continue to put in the hard work even when things seem hopeless. Even if you don’t see immediate results you know your hard work will eventually pay off. That motivation comes from believing it is possible and believing in yourself.
Lastly, you must envision the end result. Think about how your life will change when you achieve your goal. Put yourself in that perspective of how your life will be better by achieving your goal. Then think about how it will make you FEEL. Embrace those emotions of feeling proud and accomplished. Really visualize seeing yourself achieving your goal, feeling those emotions, and how your life will be changed for the better. Your subconscious will work toward making your goal happen based off this visualization. Those strong feelings and seeing how your life will change will keep you motivated toward reaching your goal.
The next time you’re struggling to reach your goal, remember these five steps. You must first believe your goal is possible. Second, you must believe in yourself that you are capable of achieving it. Third, you take action every single day. Do at least one thing that will move you closer to your goal. Fourth, you can’t give up, even when it gets hard. Pull from steps one and two to strengthen your belief and just keep taking action. Lastly, envision yourself achieving the goal, what it will mean for your life and how you will feel when you get there. These five steps are how successful people stay motivated and reach their goal.
