There are many mornings when the alarm goes off and you feel like staying in bed. Then there are on mornings when you have some fun planned and you wake up with excitement ready to start the day.
Jumping out of bed in the morning ready to tackle the day honestly seems like a day dream to me. Unless we are going away on vacation and I have a time schedule to make a flight, most days are rather routine.
Personally, I love having trips planned. Having something to look forward to gets me excited about life and the adventures ahead. I can get through the mundane daily chores and work routine with the thought of having some time off to make lasting memories.
Sometimes you need more than just a quarterly trip to bring happiness into your life. We all fall into the boring daily routine. Our days begin to look the same because life really isn’t that exciting. Posting our breakfast picture on social media doesn’t necessarily seem important enough to share anymore. Especially when it’s the same breakfast five days in a row.
The key to wake up with excitement is to incorporate something every day that you can look forward to. This doesn’t have to be anything monumental or life changing. It can be a group exercise class, going for a walk in nature, date night with your spouse, or a trying a new recipe.
Planning something exciting every day requires you to create a new habit. You can create this foundational habit by planning your day the night before. As you schedule your day make sure you have something exciting in store. Having something to look forward to will not only bring happiness into your life but it will shift your mood. Your negative headspace becomes positive and continues throughout the day. Life feels better when you’re happy. Having something exciting to look forward to daily is your answer to a happier life.
I’ve noticed a trend that people who have a reason to get up in the morning often live longer. People who have a to-do list and a purpose to get up in the morning tend to live a more fulfilling life. They have projects they are working on that fulfills their need to create and contribute in life.
Make sure you have a hobby or favorite past time that brings you happiness in life. If you don’t currently have one, explore and find something that interests you. Join a club, get involved in your local community, volunteer at the zoo, and give back.
I know making time for something exciting every day may seem daunting. If it’s not scheduled it’s not real. Meaning, it’s not going to happen.
Plan something every day that allows you to wake up with excitement. Schedule this activity with a time slot. I often find that when something is important to you, you will find time for it. Make it a daily priority because this activity is your secret weapon to a living a happier life.
