What Is Holding You Back From Taking Action

If you’re not taking action towards your goals then something is holding you back.  It usually boils down to some form of fear, worry, or doubt.  All of these amount to the unknown of what might happen in the future.  Yet, by not taking action, there is also the unknown of never finding out if you can achieve your goals.  Your options are to remain stuck right where you are in your current comfort zone or embrace the unknown and take action towards the life of your dreams.  Choose the latter.  Don’t get to the end of your life with regrets and always wonder what could have or should have been if you would have just mustered up the courage to take action towards your goals.  Let’s get into action!

 

Emotional Feelings

Begin by asking yourself where is the fear, worry, and doubt going to get you in your life.  Consider if it’s going to help you or hinder you from achieving your goals.  Then, recognize how these emotions make you feel.  You might feel small, anxious, or afraid.  Think about what good will come from working and operating from those feelings.  Honestly, nothing good will happen.  You’ll be too consumed by the fear, worry, and doubt that stressful anxiety will build up.  It will eventually become insurmountable to the point where you’re not going to take action towards your goals.

 

Visualize Your Future

Next, continue with these emotions by visualizing your future living in the fear, worry, and doubt.  Take a look at who you are being, what you are doing, and where you are in your life.  Ponder where you would be in your life if you were driven by your fears, worries, and doubts.  You’re seeing your future self and future life you’d be living.  In this vision, you’re most likely very far away from achieving your goals and dreams.  If this isn’t how you want your future to turn out then it’s time to take action towards your goals!  Get into action and turn your dreams into reality.  The alternative is what you just envisioned happening for your life.

 

Visualize Taking Action

Now, visualize what would happen if you did take action towards your goals and dreams in life.  Perhaps it’s still scary and unknown.  Maybe you do mess up, make mistakes, fail, and embarrass yourself.  You might think this isn’t helping you to feel motivated to take action towards your goals but this is reality.  Achieving your goals is not an easy process and you are going to experience some failures.  However, with every failure comes a lesson to learn and eventually it leads to success.  Relook at your future through this perspective of being a go getter who doesn’t let a setback cause you to give up on your goals and dreams in life.  Envision your future with this lens to see who you are being, what you are doing, and where you are in your life.  Perhaps you’re being courageous, taking brave bold action, and finally making small progress towards the life of your dreams.  This visual gives you hope, inspiration, and encouragement to take action towards your goals.

 

What’s Possible

Lastly, ask yourself what would be made possible for you to achieve if you simply just took action towards your goals.  Make a list of all the things you could achieve in your lifetime and all the experiences you would have.  Some good and some not so good, but really going for it and living life to your full potential.  You’re stepping outside your comfort zone, learning, growing, and being the future version of you who is living an incredible life that you always knew was possible.

 

 

You’ve been holding yourself back from taking action towards your goals because it seems too scary.  However, you can’t let the fear, worry, and doubt win.  Even if taking action doesn’t go the way you had hoped and perhaps you do fail, at least you tried.  You gave it a shot and that’s something you can be extremely proud of.  So many people live in the fear and get stuck never taking action with unachieved goals.  Do not let this happen to you.  Remember that you can learn from your actions of what worked and what didn’t so that you can improve for next time.  The important part is that you’re taking action and getting the feedback you need to move you closer to achieving your goals.  Your dream life is possible.  Take action and make it happen!
